Genting Highlands is privately owned, which means all resorts on the peak belong to a single resort group. Most of them are luxury hotels but the First World Hotel falls under the budget category. If you don't mind staying a little down the mountain, then Gohtong Jaya town has more accommodation choices available, including budget hotels and holiday apartments. Because of the limited range, prices are relatively expensive for all room types, except during low season. This is when room rates can take an incredible dip in rates. Otherwise, you can stay in Kuala Lumpur instead and make a day trip. Check the calendar for public holidays and travel during off-peak seasons.
